BIG BANDS BOOKHAM

Dear Tony, Just a line to say what a marvellous concert you gave on Friday at the Fairfield Hall. We all enjoyed it very much for it was such a nice variety of music - a nice mix of big band and middle-of-the-road.

Your comment that the band could play 'quietly' was very apt, and it was very noticeable that you (to my mind wisely) did not use a mike for every instrumentalist! Each section of your band played as a 'team' and not, as so many bands do, have each section member trying to 'out-blow' his neighbour! The sound out front was superb.

The whole programme was marvellous, and your rendering of 'Snowbird' and 'Opus One' was wonderful.

Talking to friends in the Bournemouth Big Bands on the 'phone last night, they all attended at the Tivoli in Wimborne the previous Saturday and they all agree my above remarks - particularly re the microphones!

Keep up the good work!

With kindest regards
Steve
